CUSTOMER REVIEWS FCN SEAGOING BARGE
An owner of one of our 65ft FCN barges had this to say when he sold the boat after 3 years when he moved to the United States in 2010.
Dear Peter,
Just a small note to say we have accepted an offer on the Blackwilliam for the full asking price only 4 weeks after putting her on the market.I think this a testament to your boatbuilding reputation and the superb quality of the build. (The fit out’s pretty nice too !!)
We will be sad to see her go after such a short time aboard but have had constant enjoyment in that time, no more so than when we’ve been out on the river with family and friends.
Blackwilliam always handled and performed exceptionally well and I often felt as though I was still at the helm of a 5-tonne yacht, not a 40-tonne barge! Everyone still comments on the extremely well laid out engine room and the excellent wheelhouse. No wonder she sold so quickly.
Thanks again for providing us with such a fantastic boat these past 3 years.
Yours sincerely,
Duncan McWilliam.
Sally Jenkins writes in March 2015 about her FCN 65, bought in 2011
One of the joys of owning a Nicholls-built boat is that wonderful sense of security that comes from being comfortably cocooned by excellent design & craftsmanship while those around you struggle with less robust craft.
Our Dutch barge story started 4 years ago after my husband & I was forced to retire by my ill health. Our retirement dream of travelling the world in an RV was blown out of the water. So after much discussion, we decided to take to the UK waterways in the best boat we could find. After considerable research and viewing of various boats, we lighted on one of Peter’s replica Dutch barges and fell for her, all 65 feet of craftsmanship and engineering loveliness.
To cut a long story short she has been our home for 4 years and proved the value of good design & construction, both in the living accommodation and the mechanics. We’ve had some lovely times on the Thames and are now venturing onto the coast.
The after sales care has been really good and Peter and his team have galloped to our rescue on more than one occasion. What more can I say.
