INSPECTION LAUNCH

Roomy and comfortable and available from 45ft to 70ft. Beam 11ft to 13ft. draft 2ft to 2ft 6in. Air draft starting at 6ft 8in. We have recently re-introduced our narrow beam version.

The semi-V section hull is easily driven and allows the boat to get right into the bank side when mooring or cruising on shallow waters. Stern wash is minimal with low power requirements which results in diesel economy.

Forward steering position

A real plus is the forward steering position in the large, roofed, cockpit. This results in the crew and helmsman being all together, in comfort, with the engine in the stern. The doors at bow fold back on themselves to make the saloon and the steering area into one large space for entertaining and relaxing. The side cloths roll up and have integral curtains to make the bow area into occasional extra sleeping if required. There is the option of a stern steering position as an alternative.

Wheelchair friendly boat

A wheelchair on a boat is easily accommodated by the Peter Nicholls Inspection launch with its flat floor throughout and large bow cockpit under cover. Steering the boat from a wheelchair is accomplished easily and we have built several of the inspection launches as boats for wheelchair users.

Great use of space

The 45 footer we have on show, and fore sale, at our yard features the engine under the king size double bed. Proper installation and engine space ventilation means that the engine is well out of the way, but with ease of access with gas struts lifting the bed base.

Hence almost the whole length of the boat can be used for accommodation: a massive amount of space which belies the boat’s 45ft length. The bathroom doors fold back for wheelchair entry if that were required. The front saloon doors fold back to make the saloon and covered cockpit into one large space.

The saloon is large enough for free standing easy chairs to fit in comfortably. The boat can be controlled by an otherwise fit wheelchair bound helmsman, leaving the crew to lock wheel and moor up.

Recently, a 62ft. x 11ft. 6in. inspection launch was built as a live aboard boat for London, with facilities for disabled use with hydraulic lift, (see video below) This particular boat featured a large stern deck and stern steering only. There are two large double sleeping cabins and a Miele washing machine and tumble drier in a practical and roomy laundry space.

Both machines work well from the main batteries and the 240 volt inverter without the need for a generator. The bathroom is in the centre of the boat. The large saloon is ideal for free standing furniture or when wheelchair use is required.

The anodised aluminium folding doors fold neatly out of the way when required (see video also)
